On Thursday, May 16, 2019, the New Haven Manufacturers Association and nearly 50 NHMA members visited Ulbrich Specialty Strip Mill in Wallingford, Connecticut. Business dignitaries and local entrepreneurs were given tours of the facilities by Ulbrich metallurgists and management staff. Each tour followed the path of a coil in process. In-depth explanations of laboratory, cold rolling, annealing, and grinding steps were described in USSM’s Building #1, whereas washing, slitting, edging, packing and shipping processes were detailed in USSM’s Building #2.

Following the Mill tours, a reception and dinner was held at Zandri’s Stillwood Inn for all guests. Chris Ulbrich, CEO, gave a spirited talk about the state of the business and what makes Ulbrich uniquely capable to meet the needs of hundreds of customers: “Our ability to get things done is largely thanks to our skilled craftsmen and determined professionals who work towards common goals.” On behalf of The company, Chris also extended his sincere gratitude to the entire NHMA organization and Executive Director Jamison Scott for showcasing Ulbrich as one of Greater New Haven’s premier manufacturers.

Prior to visitors arriving at the Mill, Jamison Scott and NHMA staff organized a special public relations activity. Max Reiss of NBC Connecticut’s “Face the Facts” interviewed Chris Ulbrich on the subject of steel tariffs, which gave our company the opportunity to express the importance and urgency of resolving the issue of steel tariffs in a fair and equitable manner.
