ATI Exits Standard Stainless Products: What It Means For Ulbrich's Customers

Last week, Allegheny Technologies Incorporated announced that it is exiting standard stainless sheet & strip products. ATI will also be streamlining its production footprint and investing in enhanced capabilities to accelerate the execution of its high-value strategy, primarily in aerospace and defense. Their goal is to complete this transition by mid-year 2021.

As you may know, ATI Metals is a supplier of these stainless grades for Ulbrich. Some of the grades impacted include 201, 301, and 304 Stainless Steel. While disruptive in the short term, this announcement by them does not affect our commitment to providing our customers with the metal they need in order to keep making parts and satisfy their customers.

Ulbrich is a leader in the metals business supplying 160 alloys. We have deep and diverse supply chain expertise and partnerships. Our robust and deeply experienced Technical Group allows us to understand our customer's needs and unique requirements to determine the best sourcing alternatives.

While we do not have immediate answers on the full scope and impact this will have in the near term; we are well-positioned. We have begun strategic talks with our vast network of worldwide suppliers to ensure minimal disruption and continuity of supply to our customer base.

Ulbrich remains focused on serving our customers and continuing the technical development of metal products that meet our customers needs. Please contact your Ulbrich sales or technical representative with any questions or use our website contact features.

Sincerely,

Chris Ulbrich
