In an effort to unify Ulbrich’s community outreach programs and events that employees have championed over the years, the Community Outreach Team has been formed. From park clean-ups to helping those in need, this group of socially-conscious individuals will support the local community through acts of kindness and goodwill. All-CT based employees have been invited to participate in as many or as few events as they see fit.
The Community Outreach Team’s first event came on Saturday, September 17th, when several employees spent the morning volunteering at the Wallingford YMCA Community Day Road Race. 5k, 10k and youth races kicked off the morning and were followed by a Community Day festival at Doolittle Park that featured arts & crafts, food vendors and fun activities for children and families. The proceeds from the event are used to support the YMCA’s LiveSTRONG program, which assists those affected with cancer.
Ulbrich has a proud relationship with the Wallingford YMCA that dates back decades. In an effort to recognize his extraordinary contributions to the organization and local youth, the ‘Y’ renamed its annual summer camp, Camp Ulbrich, after the late Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer Fred Ulbrich Jr.
Weston Ulbrich, Human Resources Coordinator, USSM, and one of the organizers of the Community Outreach Team, has been pleased with the reception the team has received from employees.
“We’ve had a lot of sign ups,” he said, “People want to help out. (The Ulbrich Community Outreach Team) represents an opportunity for employees to continually improve, both in and out of the workplace.”
The Community Outreach Team is looking forward to many more successful and rewarding events in the future!
