This May, employees representing all divisions of Ulbrich Stainless Steels & Special Metals Inc. met to discuss the company’s path forward.
The Commercial Focus Meeting, held May 1 through May 4 at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resort in Orlando, Florida, was a time for over 75 Ulbrich employees to collaborate, share ideas and plan for the future.
“The meeting provides an opportunity to understand where the company is headed and what we need to do as a group and as individuals to get there,” said Gregg Boucher, President of the Distribution Division, “It also serves as an excellent time to build relationships within the organization.”
The meeting was truly a global affair, as employees from Ulbrich locations in Canada, Mexico and Austria joined their colleagues from across divisions in the United States at the event.
“It’s a great chance for employees to be with people who they work with very often, but rarely see in person,” said Ryan Cei, Marketing Manager, “It’s all about collaboration.”
Cei noted the average tenure of those in attendance was nearly 18 years. Additionally, there were 18 newcomers to this year’s event.
The four day affair featured sessions on corporate strategy and vision direction, product development and supply chain management needs, technology updates, new opportunities in marketing and many more. Futurist Simon Anderson delivered a captivating keynote address discussing new technologies and the final day featured a management panel setting, a discussion on the future by Gregg Boucher and a question and answer period hosted by CEO Chris Ulbrich and COO Jay Cei.
While the days were filled with important business discussions and meetings, attendees also participated in exciting activities that promoted team building.
Highlights included a divisional game show, dinner and fireworks at Epcot, a behind the scenes tour of Magic Kingdom Park, dinner and bowling at Disney Springs and an evening of dancing at Disney’s Board Walk Inn.
“The venue was great,” Cei said, “Everyone had a wonderful time. The meeting was definitely a success.”
